Making NZ Team and Pegasus Open 2011.
From the beginning of my golfing career I have set goals, they started small at the beginning so as they were achievable, as the years progressed my goals got higher and more specific like representing my club, Province etc.
In 2010 the goal for many players including myself was to gain a high position in the NZ Order of Merit, as the top ten players are automatically selected to play in the Pegasus Women’s Open..
I was informed over the Xmas break that I was one of ten amateurs selected for the Pegasus Women’s Open, I am excited about the selection and looking forward to the event, this is the second time I have played in the Women’s Open my first tournament was the very first Women’s Open held at Clearwater in 2009, unfortunately I missed the cut however a great experience.
Being selected for the NZ Team to play in the Riversdale Cup 27th Feb to 2nd March is certainly a highlight for the start of 2011.
My selection I’m sure has been the result of my top placing in two NZ Order of Merit Tournaments along with consistent rounds I've been having on a regular basis. All the hours of practice and hard work certainly pays off in the end.
The gym and physical training Wairiki Sports Academy set up for me has had a great impact on my physical status and stamina.
Golf practice sessions are planed on identified weaknesses in my game and any changes that have been made (swing set up etc.)
I work out a strategy plan for each individual tournament and try to familiarize myself with course layout and greens; as every golf course is different.
My goal for 2011 is to make the NZ Women’s Srixon Squad and win a NZ Tournament or Charles Tour event.
