RBHS - Hot scoring at Putaruru
RBHS Golf Academy played the 7th round of there order of merit at the Putaruru Golf Club on Friday the 17th of June.
This was the coldest morning of the year so far, with a good one hour warm up consisting of muscle warm up then muscle activation then onto half and full swings. Most of the boys had 3 layers of clothing on and a beanie. The golf course was playing long from tee to green due to some wet weather over the last month but the greens were the best we had played on this year, fast and true. Piki Skerrett loved the greens having a total of 22 putts for his 18 holes on his way to a solid 2 over par 74, this was good enough for 5th place as four academy players broke par.
Putaruru is a real hidden gem, great greens, beautiful senary, and a very diverse course that is a real test of golf with small dog legs and undulating fairways.
Player Gross Nett
William Howard 69 69
Dominc Sainsbury 70 72
Jason Kim 71 69

Piki Skerrett 74 67
Luke Robinson 80 75

Landyn Edwards Leads the Amateur Championship
This would be the biggest BOP effort in amateur golf since Danny Lee, Landyn’s former school (Both Old Boys of Rotorua Boys High School) teammate, won the US Amateur and rose to No 1 ranked amateur in the world.
The second-best round of the day at Hillside was signed for by England’s Gregory Eason. The only player, apart from Edwards, to break par at a course described by Greg Norman as having the best back nine in the World.
