It's all on again Waiariki vs RBHS

Here we go again, with ten players away with Bay of Plenty duties it is left up to those left behind to battle it out for bragging rights. last year the Waiariki Academy wiped the floor with Rotorua Boys High in an 11 matches to 2 victory. With all the big guns away it should be a lot closer this year.

Performance Based Practice Focuses Attention

Landyn Edwards visulising the shot and deep in focus before he plays, the goal here is the square 135 meters away but to get there you must first start you ball on line.
Ruel Pedersen has a different distraction here, again having the correct starting line and finishing postion with your ball are the focus.

Controling your ball flight and carry distance are the focus here, with Doug Mathews and Tavita Solomona landing the ball on the towel.

This is circuit training golf style, Five balls are played from each station and all shots are recorded before moving onto the next station.

Waiariki Academy of Sport Update

A good weekend for the Girls at the Bay of Plenty Golf Camp. Grace beat both Heather and Susan (the Bay of Plenty one and two golfers) and she has named to play at number 3 for this weekends Quad at Taupo against the Waikato, Wellington and Manawatu/Whanganui. Saini also went and one her matches playing at number 8 and said a great speech to the squad about her tough year so far.
Chantelle played number 1 for the Waikato this weekend in Omaha and won her two matches but lost her third match against Celica Cho world number 2 Amateur in the world.

Both Chantelle and Grace are playing this week in the New Zealand Under 19 Championship at the Omanu Golf Club http://www.golf.co.nz/Events/National.aspx

Rotana got better and better in China but the heat and a poor diet cost her in the first two rounds, she did have a great time and is looking forward to getting back. I caught up with Marie today and she is having a meeting with Dave and the other course tutors today to discuss Rotana’s options.

Ruel and Andrew both had a tough time at the North Harbour Stroke play over the weekend with the wind and heavy rough making the course very difficult, they both finished in the middle of the field.

Cassidy wins BOP Open and Pedersen learns a lot

Chantelle shot a personal best five under par 66 on her way to Victory in todays final round of the bay of Plenty Open, Bay of plenty number one Zoe Brake had a huge lead going into the final round but was chased down by Chantelle who took the lead off her with 6 holes to play and never looked back, even when Zoe madea great birdie putt on the 15th Chantelle replied by holing her birdie putt. Zoe played her best golf and was beaten by a better player on the day.
Ruel Pedersen had the lead in the mens tournament for 63 holes but then got it back on the next hole by holing a 120 meter wedge shot for an eagle 2 on the par 4 tenth. but Ruels nerves got the better of him on the par 5 13th where he slipped up and never recovered.
